Corporate Membership Benefits

These are challenging times for American companies. One of the major challenges is controlling their suppliers' costs. It makes sense that the more suppliers a company has competing for its business the more competitive prices and services it will be offered. Often companies overlook, or are not aware of, networks of competitive suppliers that can help them meet their needs. These suppliers are often minority owned businesses.

SCOMSDC helps corporations identify suppliers. These suppliers, when given the opportunity to compete for business, have a positive impact on helping corporations reduce costs and better meet their needs. These firms are not seeking set aside quotas or special preferences. They only want to compete for business. As a corporate member of SCOMSDC you;

  • are a member of one of the largest and most expansive Councils in the NMSDC network;
  • are provided with access to an extensive database of certified ethnic-minority suppliers throughout Ohio and around the nation;
  • are granted the opportunity to enhance customer satisfaction with qualified, highly innovative, ‘Corporate-ready’ minority suppliers who consistently meet the highest standards in doing business with local national and global partners;

That's why we offer many networking events that are essential to making new contacts, meeting potential clients and improving the professional development of our members. To encourage this interaction, SCOMSDC offers a wide range of networking and recognition opportunities.

Minority Procurement

Minority entrepreneurs, whether operating as sole proprietors or CEOs of large corporations, face unique challenges in business. SCOMSDC helps MBEs overcome these hurdles by connecting them to public council members ready to do business.

  • National and Local Database – access to local and national databases that contain certified MBEs. These databases contain up to 15,000 certified MBEs.
  • Bid Notification – notifying appropriate MBEs of corporate members' bid and contract opportunities.
  • Minority Certification - a service designed to provide credibility and solidarity among members.
  • Ohio Business Opportunity Fair – statewide trade fair and conference that provides a significant opportunity for corporate members to meet MBEs.

Membership with SCOMSDC adds value to your business and it assists the Council in continuing to offer the programs and services listed above. We offer several levels of sponsorship; Silver, Gold and Diamond. Each level of sponsorship has added rewards and benefits.

Testimony

"DSI has benefited greatly by being a part of the SCOMSDC family.  It has allowed our organization the opportunity access to decision makers from numerous organizations that we had not had  before becoming a member of SCOMSDC.  Our participation in the COE program has allowed us to build our capacity in the areas that are important to the corporate members, hence allowing us more opportunity in the business network.  Our membership has also allowed us to expand our organization into other states due to our status and relationships built within the NMSDC."
